Internship PDF Print E-mail

Internships are an important element of the AH certification process.  Students must complete a 300 hour internship at a nonprofit agency. Upon completing the field experience, the student must submit a paper comparing the theory and practice of nonprofit management as observed during the internship.  The AH internship experience is designed to promote a hands-on, real-world learning experience for our students.

Process for hiring an intern

The number of interns available varies each year according to registration and student progress through the AH program.

  • Priority internship selection is given to our Partner agencies
  • Both nonprofit organizations and students should begin the internship search process early in the semester prior to the experience (e.g. summer interns determine their placements in early spring).
  • Please email your internship job description to our campus directors.  Our campus directors will email your internship description to their roster of AH students.  Negotiating internship work details, such as compensation, work schedule and task assignments, is between the student and agency.  Student learning objectives and coursework assignments will be handled with the student and instructor.

AH Students requiring an internship placement should contact their campus director for assistance with internship placement.
